Presiden Persatuan Golf Malaysia (MGA) Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor berkata kedua-dua pemain yang mempamerkan prestasi membanggakan sepanjang tahun ini menjadi prospek terbaik untuk menyumbang pingat pada temasya dwitahunan itu.
"Kita telah menilai prestasi pemain yang terpilih ke Myanmar dan pada kejohanan Golf Piala Putra di Manila baru-baru ini, Gavin muncul juara.
"Pada tahun ini, Gavin menunjukkan peningkatan prestasi. Beliau bermain seperti seorang profesional dan sering membuat pukulan di bawah par," kata Mohd Anwar kepada pemberita selepas perasmian 'Malaysia International Golf Fair (MIGF) Symposium 2013' di sini Selasa.
Ia dirasmikan Menteri Pelancongan dan Kebudayaan Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.
Mohd Anwar berkata pemain negara dijangka berdepan saingan pemain dari Filipina, Thailand dan Indonesia pada temasya itu.
Selain Gavin dan Kelly, turut tersenarai ke Sukan SEA Myanmar ialah Abel Tam, Wafiuddin Abdul Manaf, Nur Durriyah Damian, Vivian Ching dan Michele Koh.
"Kelly juga menampilkan peningkatan (prestasi). Beliau kini menyertai pusingan akhir kelayakan Persatuan Golf Profesional Wanita (LPGA) di Amerika Syarikat dan beliau mungkin disenarai menyertai kejohanan LPGA," katanya..
