Thailand U23 Too Strong for Brunei Darussalam

THAILAND UPDATED. Thailand's SEA Games (U-23) team yesterday beat Brunei 2-0 in a warm-up match ahead of next month's tournament in Myanmar.

Praweenawat Boonyong scored the opening goal after 19 minutes and Naruebodin Weerawatdodom added the other in injury time against fellow SEA Games participants.

Thailand coach Kiatisak Senamuang was without three Buriram United players - Theeratorn Bunmathan, Charyl Chappuis and Adisak Kraisorn - whose club will play in today's League Cup final.

Thailand are desperate to regain the title at the biennial event. They won the gold medal eight times in a row before two consecutive first-round exits in 2009 and 2011.

At the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar, Thailand are in Group B along with the hosts, Indonesia, Timor Leste and Cambodia.

Thailand will open their campaign against Timor Leste on Dec 7 with the top two teams of each of the two groups advancing to the semi-finals.
